Billing Information

The charges for your radiation treatments and follow-up visits will be billed in two separate parts.

Part I - Hospital Charges
The Saint Barnabas Medical Center charge comes from the Business Office and primarily covers the cost of the facilities, equipment, supplies and personnel. Should you have any questions regarding hospital claim submissions or hospital participation, please call 800-577-0869.

Part II - Professional Charges
The physicians' professional charges will come from the Physicians in Radiation Oncology, P.A., Billing Office. This bill covers the professional management of your case by your radiation oncologist, including the highly trained, professional support staff who carry out your treatment under his or her direction. If you are experiencing any difficulties with your insurance submission, please notify our billing office:

Medicare, Medicaid and New Jersey Blue Shield
Bills for Medicare, Medicaid, and New Jersey Blue Shield patients will automatically be submitted directly to the appropriate insurance company only if the billing information was given correctly upon registration. If our information is incorrect, a statement will be sent directly to you, which will be your responsibility to submit to your insurance carrier. The billing office will only submit claims to insurance carriers and HMOs with which the doctors participate. Please inquire upon registration in order to confirm participation. 

Private Insurance and Managed Care Plans
Physicians in Radiation Oncology, P.A., participate in many HMOs and other insurance plans. You are responsible for paying the co-payments and deductible portion of your bill. For managed care patients, it is the patient's responsibility to obtain pre-authorization for any and all services before coming to the department. Pre-authorization or pre-certification must be obtained from your primary care physician or referring physician, provided he or she is a qualified plan member.
