The radiation oncology physicians at Saint Barnabas Medical Center are all Board Certified and dedicated to providing the highest quality care in a compassionate setting.

Dr. Robert Goodman, joined the Saint Barnabas Health Care System in December 1998 as Chairman of the Department of Radiation Oncology of Saint Barnabas Medical Center as well as Chairman of Radiation Oncology—Northern Division, for the Saint Barnabas Health Care System of New Jersey. As such, he provides leadership not only at Saint Barnabas Medical Center, Livingston, but also at Clara Maass Medical Center, Belleville, and Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, Newark.

Dr. Goodman is an internationally respected, fellowship-trained radiation oncologist with 25 years of experience in radiation oncology. He received his bachelor’s degree from Dartmouth College, N.H., followed by his medical degree from the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Columbia University, New York, N.Y. He completed an internship in medicine and a residency at Beth Israel Hospital, Boston, Mass., followed by two fellowships – in hematology at Presbyterian Hospital, New York, N.Y., and in radiation therapy at Harvard Joint Center for Radiation Therapy, Boston, Mass.

Dr. Goodman is board-certified in internal medicine, radiation oncology, and internal medicine in medical oncology.

He has held several impressive faculty and administrative posts, among them, the Henry K. Pancoast Professor of Radiation Oncology at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, Philadelphia, Pa., and Professor of Radiation Oncology, Brady Professor and Chair of the Department of Radiation Oncology, MCP-Hahnemann School of Medicine, Philadelphia, Pa. He was also Assistant Professor in Radiation Therapy, Harvard Medical School, Boston, Mass.

The author of approximately 200 original papers, abstracts, chapters and editorials, Dr. Goodman is also co-author of Breast Cancer Treatment: A Comprehensive Guide to Management. He holds current and past editorial positions with Oncology News International, Clinical Oncology Alert, PDQ Extramural Board, Radiotherapy and Oncology, and the Journal of the European Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology.

In 1999, Dr. Goodman was named in Good Housekeeping magazine’s list of choice medical experts.
