Dr. Sacher
Dr. Allison Sacher
joined the staff of the Department of Radiation Oncology at Newark Beth Israel in 2001. Prior to coming to NBI, Dr. Sacher was an Attending Physician at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City.

Dr. Sacher underwent her training at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City where she served as Chief Resident in the Department of Radiation Oncology. Dr. Sacher also spent one year at Hackensack Medical Center where she received the 밒ntern of the Year?award. She received her Medical degree from The Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City.

Dr. Sacher was intimately involved in the pioneering research that developed Intracoronary Brachytherapy. She brought her expertise to Newark Beth Israel Medical Center. Currently NBIMC is the only hospital in New Jersey to offer both the Beta and Gamma systems for Intracoronary Brachytherapy. Dr. Sacher also has extensive experience in the use of Brachytherapy to treat other diseases including gynecologic, lung and esophageal cancers.   In addition, Dr. Sacher is greatly experienced in the delivery of standard external beam radiation therapy and 3-D conformal radiation therapy.

The Department of Radiation Oncology at Newark Beth Israel is one of a select few in the state of New Jersey that is affiliated with the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG) through its relationship with Thomas Jefferson University. Due to this affiliation the department has access to the most up to date and most promising "cutting edge" treatment protocols, designed to explore new methods of treatment. The goal of these protocols is simple, increase the chance of cure while reducing the risk of side effects.

The department has a similar affiliation with the Children뭩 Cancer Study Group (CCSG), making it one of the only departments in New Jersey to hold dual affiliations. All patients treated on protocol have their treatment plans undergo professional peer review by a panel of experts at either RTOG or CCSG headquarters.

Dr. Sacher is a Board Certified Radiation Oncologist and is a member of The American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology (ASTRO), American College of Radiation Oncology (ACRO), and The American Medical Association (AMA).

Caring nursing and dedicated healthcare professionals round out a compassionate, multidisciplinary team approach to cancer patients and their families.
