Quality Care Our Commitment

The department of radiation oncology is committed to providing comprehensive quality care to all of our patients. In response we have adopted a team approach to patient management which includes the radiation oncologist, oncology certified nursing and social worker.

Radiation Oncology Physicians  All of our physicians are board certified by the American Board of Radiology. This ensures all of our doctors have successfully completed the most rigorous credentials process. In addition Community Medical Center is one of only four hospitals in New Jersey to be accredited by the American College of Radiology.

Nursing:  Our facility is staffed by an experienced and compassionate oncology trained nursing staff. They are responsible for coordinating what is often a multidisciplinary treatment course. Beginning with the initial assessment and history the nurse follows the patient on a daily basis and offers helpful teaching and medical intervention as needed throughout the radiation treatment course. They also provide continuity of care for patient's and their families throughout the follow-up period.

Social Worker The social worker can assist to connect patients with available community benefits, obtain pre-authorization for services from insurance companies , assist with requesting / obtaining referrals and direct patients to support groups or outside individual counseling. They can also provide information on specific disease sites and other services such as stress reduction techniques and eating hints. The social worker may also be a useful guide to filling out disability forms and may act as a liaison between patients and pharmaceutical companies regarding patient assistance programs.
